Our History
In December 2015, a small idea was born in Tokyo. A dedicated team began designing a Japanese Curriculum and Methodology Program focused on academics, character, social values, and emotional development. This initiative was inspired by Mr. Ali Leonard Nakamura, a man of both Indonesian and Japanese heritage, who saw the need to bridge cultural and language gaps between the two nations.
To bring this vision to life, Mr. Nakamura founded Nakamura School in 2018. The school adopted a distinctive and holistic educational approach—merging the Indonesian Curriculum, international standards, and the principles of Japanese education. Its mission was not only to ensure academic excellence but also to instill moral responsibility and promote well-being.
That same year, construction of the school building began. The first phase was completed in time to open the 2018/2019 Academic Year on July 9, 2018.
The second phase followed on July 9, 2021, and the third on November 9, 2023. The fourth phase is now being planned to further expand facilities.
Nakamura School started with Early Childhood Education and has grown to include Primary and Secondary levels. Along the way, it has nurtured both knowledge and cultural respect, fostering a learning environment where Indonesian and Japanese communities grow and thrive together.
